I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Dear Future,

You look fantastic!

I am realizing more of who I am, and therefore coming to see a broader perspective of what you can be.

We are really going places, too.  And not just anywhere, but exactly where and when God directs.  He is the builder and author of time and has a destiny planned out where we are together at just the right places!  Cool, huh?

And hey, God has gifted me just right for you, so we can work together.

What used to look like a tiny profile on the horizon now looks as face to face, so let’s link arms and move forward.

And such a gift that there’s a time for everything under Heaven - a time for rest, a time for leaping forward, a time for speaking, a time for loving, a time for healing, a time for restoring, a time for blessing.

And God hasn’t left out anything.  He has packed my suitcase with all I need for my journey to you.  So keep looking out the window for me, for I’m just around the corner.

Love,

Robin

In my life’s experience, change is normal, like water ever flowing forward, therefore fresh and refreshing. A truer reflection of who God is and what he ask us to be. He’s steadfast, never changing. Yet he always has us flowing forward, carrying us in the streams of life. He’s a good God.

    Dear Change,

Every time we meet, I don’t care for you very much.

    There.  I said it.

I don’t like how you come in uninvited sometimes.  Wish you’d call first.

You always bring your friends “Adjust”, “Develop”, and “Deepen” with you, too.  They look good, but eat all my food.

I don’t particularly care for how you give directions.  You’re a back seat driver.

I don’t like what you wear.  It’s psychedelic and unattractive and just not me.

I really don’t care for you insisting I try on your shoes either.  They never fit well at first.

You, Change, are an exercise in faith and you stretch me beyond what I can do alone.

You should come with a trainer.  The weights of change are impossible to lift without help.

Sometimes you come in violently and reconfigure my whole world.  Sometimes like minutes lost, you take away what I thought I had.

Sometimes I am watching for you to approach when I hope you have my heart’s desire in your hands.

Sometimes you come in like a surprise, like a bunch of fresh flowers, that is just what I need, but I still find it difficult to receive your gift.  It always means leaving something else.

And yet you are so embraceable.

When I release what I have in my hands, I am able to take hold of what you offer.

And even the things I thought were wrong or uncomfortable, I find with Heaven’s help, they come to fit like new clothes in a different style.

I must admit in looking back, you have rung my doorbell right on time to spare me from something awful.

I am pleased that you are patient with me while I adjust and yield to your presence.

All I can see is today, but the One who wrote the story and keeps inserting you into it already knows each chapter.

In trusting Him, I accept you, and like a prophetic vision, find that you keep me moving forward.

    Thankfully,

    Robin

    Voices be silent,
    Sounds go to bed.
    My time is quiet.
    Nothing is said.
Time for Quiet by Robin Lawrimore

    Dear Solitude,

I am thankful you are here.

For without you, all would be clutter and noise and demands and needs.

I need time to be me, alone with God, whose eyes are ever on me -

like I’m the only person He knows.

I need time away from every other living soul,

so that I rest with the Creator, the Friend - time to be quiet and listen.

With you, I listen to what my heart has wanted to say when other parts of life

    kept butting in.

I listen to find out where I am.

I sit and wait and He draws nearer, like a bank of fog thick, encompassing.

In His image, His pattern, I am totally dependent for every breath.

Quiet me, Lord, and take my hand and draw me away to a solitary place

so that I might be refreshed in Your river, Your ocean of promise, love, peace.

totally immerse, diving in who You are.

    Alone in You.

~”Come aside to a quiet place with Me and rest a while.”  Matthew 6:31~

    Dear Heart,

I know it’s tough sometimes to be hopeful.

I know it’s tough sometimes not to hurt for someone or yourself.

    I know you are tender.

    But you are also strong.

You have been strengthened through endurance, trial, and challenge.

    You are also loving.

You have learned to love by allowing God to love you and by loving those who have hurt you.

    You are faithful.

You have learned steadfastness, finding it indispensable for strength.

    And you are cheerful!

You have learned to laugh at yourself and at stuff that used to embarrass you.

Because you are made in God’s image, you are beautiful, creative, and loving.

You are learning to let that flow from His life right through yours every time you let His Spirit fill and guide you.  The Life of lives springs up and flows like a river.

But you don’t have to “be” any certain thing or “do” everything just so.  You are loved like you are, imperfectly wonderful.

And most of all, you are incredibly precious to your Creator.

Never forget that while you are pumping life through this earthly body for knowledge of that love is everything you need.

    Dear Boundaries,

    Demands are yellow, orange, red

Pulling strength out of my head

Until with raised hand I say “Stop”

    New boundaries, fences fall kerplop.

Mental rest is blue and green

Like the trees and sky I’ve seen.

    Classical music on the air

    Transforming energy everywhere.

Life is like this ebb and flow-

Here you stop, here you go.

    Everyone has a string

That seeks to pull on everything.

But the scissors of my life

Clip and snip to cut out strife.

    Stay connected till you’re done

Then cut the strings and run, run, run!

    Dear Creativity,

Learn to color outside the lines.

Don’t be so absorbed in the rules.  Know them, then break them and see what the picture becomes.

You are modeled after the most Creative Being in the universe.  It’s OK to look more like Him and try something new, produce the unexpected, or allow a different color or sound combination.

Wake up and flow like the river you were created to be.  You might even surprise me!

Stop to notice what’s in a moment, a conversation, a scene, the intricacy of the coat design of the giraffe.  Gain inspiration from what is near.

Use your gifts to give back to those who walk your path.  Be creative in how you relate and love others.

Your feelings of significant moments are fuel.  The art of your life can flow from your life lessons.  You are canvas.

Remember you are beautiful and a work of art yourself, highly valued and worth the life of the Creator.
